I’m enjoying watching Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip as my consolation for the cancellation of The West Wing. The Christmas episode aired December 4th and climaxed with a group of displaced New Orleans Jazz musicians doing a fabulous rendition of O Holy Night. Turns out the arrangement was instantly popular online and gained a lot of attention for The Tipitina’s Foundation, which is working toward rebuilding the New Orleans music culture. The clip from the show is available at YouTube, but the full MP3 version of the song is available for free download on the Studio 60 website, and I do recommend it.

Is Studio 60 good? I’ve been so mad that West Wing was cancelled (and that the final season writing was so terrible) that I’ve been boycotting it. Which I fully recognize is cutting off my nose to spite my face, but I haven’t been able to get past it. ;-)
I’m with you … I actually watched (or re-watched) that particular episode of Studio 60 last night for the 3rd time. Definitely one of my new favorites.
Sonja — weather or not you like the premise, the writing on the show will definitely remind you of early West Wing… the duo is definitely on. I wasn’t sure the show’s premise was going to work for me — not exactly the same politics — but the writing and the story lines won me over pretty quickly. It isn’t the West Wing, but it’s become my weekly consolation prize.
