My wife and I rented and watched Two for the Money this evening with Al Pacino and Matthew McConaughey. And Rene Russo. The movie was good, but it didn’t escape our notice that Rene Russo is 52, and looks pretty good. I mean, she looked good a few years back in The Thomas Crown Affair (one of our favorites, great soundtrack), and if anything she might look better in the later movie. So I got to wondering, is there a portrait of her locked in an upstairs room of her house, aging slowly but surely while she continues to defy the laws of nature? I’m thinking that might be the most plausible explanation, and as Sherlock Holmes has said so well, “Once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth.”

Update: just to clarify, we didn’t watch the movie with Al Pacino, Matthew McConaughey, and Rene Russo, we just watche a movie in which they appeared. Naturally, if these three stars would have been sitting in our living room watching the movie with us, I’d have simply asked Rene about the painting and cleared up the matter on the spot.
