Promises

Jason Clark is asking, “How many times do we over-promise on church?” I’ve had several discussions now with people about this, notably with Robbymac, whose writing project on this subject is due shortly.

But sometimes you hear a question and you just don’t want to hear the answer… like the one Jason asks. But this is the “hype” that the post-charismatics are contra…. at least, hopefully. Jason has a good point about being cautious not to repeat the same error, while at the same time each of us in our own way are trying to answer the question, “If there were no rules about what church had to be, what are your dreams of what ‘church’ could look like?” This because we’re unwilling to utter the “7 deadly words” (aka 7 last words) in the church.
