THE INVESTIGATOR
Enneagram Type Five
The Intense, Cerebral Type:
Perceptive, Innovative, Secretive, and Isolated
Burning question of the day… what do Brother Maynard, Albert Einstein, Stephen Hawking, John Lennon, Gary Larson, James Joyce, Agatha Christie, Jane Goodall, Friedrich Nietzsche, Vincent Van Gogh, and “Fox Mulder” (X Files) all have in common? Apparently we’re all Enneagram Type Five people.
Hat Tip on this to Ash on Addison Road. My particular score on the short (free) version of this test was “Enneagram Five with a Four-Wing,” which further types me as …wait for it… “The Iconoclast.” Could anybody see that one coming?
I was type 1 with a five/four wing.. I was almost a triple type (equal score on three matrixes). The enneagram is a fascinating tool whose roots go back nearly 1600 years. The Catholics are much into it and use it as the basis of spiritual retreats.. I have Richard Rohr’s book on it if I could ever find it.
I was type 1 (the reformer) with a 3 wing (the achiever). Hmmmm. I’m never sure what to think of these things.
Hey Arlen, are you back or posting from Amsterdam or therabouts?
I am type 1 as well (though Arlen, I think your wing is the highest scoring of the two on either side of the primary).
Peace,
Jamie
Oh-oh.. I read further in the analysis… scoring high in three areas often means we have no idea who we really are.. LOL… I knew I was twisted :)
The Loyalist
The committed, security-oriented type. Sixes are reliable, hard-working, responsible, and trustworthy. Excellent “troubleshooters,” they foresee problems and foster cooperation, but can also become defensive, evasive, and anxious—running on stress while complaining about it. They can be cautious and indecisive, but also reactive, defiant and rebellious. They typically have problems with self-doubt and suspicion. At their Best: internally stable and self-reliant, courageously championing themselves and others.
Not an issue for me, until I read that I share personalities with Malcom X and Woody Allen. Huh?
I’m equally a 1 and a 5.
Maynard, yes I posted that comment from the Netherlands. I’m back now. Jamie, I didn’t really understand your comment…. Sorry, maybe it’s the jet lag…..
